To wrap up this year’s Cavit Gourmet Pizza Classic, we brought our top five finalists to New York City to compete for the title of “America’s Best Gourmet Pizza” and an all-expense-paid trip to Italy. Guests enjoyed an afternoon of sampling the top recipes while sipping on their favorite Cavit wines and mingling with expert judges: Christopher Gatto, Executive Chef of Uno Chicago Grill, Chef Billy from Cooking Light magazine and Cesare Casella, Dean of Italian studies at the French Culinary Institute. The judges had quite a decision to make with the array of gourmet recipes, but in the end Mary and Joseph Sayers from Rye, New Hampshire took home the grand prize for their Four Cheese and Prosciutto on Whole Wheat Dough with Zesty Topping Pizza.
